National Canvass Director

About the DCCC:

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is the official national Democratic campaign committee charged with electing Democrats to the U. S. House of Representatives. The DCCC recruits Democratic candidates and supports Democratic campaigns – both challengers and Democratic incumbent Members – with a variety of services including field operations, fundraising support, communications assistance, research support and management consulting. In addition, the DCCC’s Independent Expenditure supports these campaigns with television, radio and other voter contact efforts. The DCCC is supported by the contributions of individuals and organizations, along with Democratic Members, from throughout the country. Position Summary:

The DCCC is seeking an experienced National Canvass Director to recruit, train, and mentor District Paid Canvass Directors working on multiple competitive congressional races across the country for the 2018 cycle. The National Canvass Director will build a team of District Paid Canvass Directors by conducting outreach, interviewing and participating in hiring decisions regarding prospective District Paid Canvass Directors, and consulting on staffing decisions.

The National Canvass Director will run a strategic program to carefully direct operational success and logistics, including recruitment and staff development, carefully managing budgets and expenses, administering digital canvassing technologies, and being responsible for human resources related tasks. The National Canvass Director will work closely with the DCCC Deputy Field Director to set strategy and analyze performance and execution.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Position based in Washington, DC and will require frequent travel
  • Proven ability to create and track budgets and expenses
  • Experience recruiting, hiring, training and managing a Canvass Team
  • Be able to strategically identify and communicate best practices across the country
  • At least one cycle of experience managing a large paid-canvass program
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A high level of self-motivation and proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Demonstrated admin level knowledge of NGP VAN software suites
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to use office software like Excel, Word, and Google Sheets
  • Frequent travel required
  • Other duties as needed
